Outgoing Minister Karki reiterates the need of developing Nepal as ‘IT hub’



KATHMANDU: Outgoing Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, has insisted on developing Nepal as a hub for information technology (IT).

In his address to a farewell program organized for him at the Ministry today, Karki said Nepal’s climate, available youth force and educational atmosphere were favorable for developing it as the ‘IT hub’.

Leader Karki who assumed office on October 8, 2021 was relieved with the appointment of CPN (Maoist Centre)’s Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ as the 44th Prime Minister of Nepal on Sunday.

The leader, who had also the responsibility of looking after the portfolio of the Minister of Law, Justice and the Parliamentary Affairs, said he assessed the development of water resources, tourism and infrastructure now took the pace and it should be accelerated through collective efforts.

He took time to urge civil service employees remaining as the permanent government keeping the people and the nation at first.

Ministry Secretary Dr Baikuntha Aryal said 95 percent affairs of the Ministry were digitalized after Karki assumed the office. Works on some significant issues including the communications acts and laws and the advancement of the postal service were among the achievements during the term of Karki.

On the occasion, the outgoing Minister was handed a ‘token of love’ on behalf of the Ministry. The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs also bid farewell to Karki today itself.
