UML’s Mahesh Basnet elected from Ilam-1 defeating Jhalanath Khanal
Mahesh Basnet of CPN-UML has been elected from Ilam Constituency-1 defeating former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, who is also a senior leader of the Unified Socialist Party. Khanal lost to Basnet by a margin of 2,957 votes.
Five-party coalition government after election: Home Minister Khand
Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has claimed of forming a five-party coalition government after the election. Khand, who was defeated in Rupandehi-3 in the recently-held election to the House of Representatives, claimed that a five-party coalition government will be formed for political stability in the country.
RPP wins 7 seats in Bagmati State Assembly
The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has won 7 seats in the Bagmati Provincial Assembly. According to the Election Commission, RPP has won 7 seats. Out of the seven provincial assembly MPs won by RPP, five are from Kathmandu and two are from Dhading and Chitwan.
Counting of votes uncertain in Bajura
Counting of votes of the election to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly held on November 20 has become uncertain in Bajura. The vote counting became uncertain after complaint was filed at the Election Commission, saying Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) cadres cast fake votes capturing the polling booths at different voting centres in the district.
Hotels and resorts in Bhotekoshi recovering
The number of tourists, both domestic and foreign, has started increasing in Bhotekoshi of Sindhupalchok district of late. Bhotekoshi features in the list of the world’s 15 best bungee jumping sites. As in other touristic sites, the number of visitors had nose-dived here during the Covid pandemic.
NC leading in vote-count under FPTP category of HoR and PA elections
The Nepali Congress is in the top position in the vote count tally in the ongoing counting of votes under the House of Representatives (HoR) and Province Assembly (PA) elections held on November 20.
According to the Election Commission, the results of the vote counting of 155 out of the 165 electoral constituencies under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) category have been announced.
NC senior leader Poudel starts wooing party leaders for premiership
Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel has intensified discussion with his party leaders seeking their support to become the next Prime Minister.
Poudel met NC President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and urged the latter to support him to become the prime minister.
Number of companies listed at NEPSE reaches 242 in mid-October
Number of companies listed at NEPSE reached 242 in mid-October 2022.
This is stated in the report on Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation of Nepal issued by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).
The report is based on three months’ data ending Mid-October, 2022/23. The companies listed at NEPSE include 146 Bank and Financial Institutions (BFIs) and insurance companies, 59 hydropower companies, 19 manufacturing and processing industries, six investment companies, five hotels, four trading companies and three others.
