More than 7.6 million votes counted under PR category
KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has said it has counted more than 7.6 million votes under the proportional election. It is the update of votes total 47 political parties received till 5:40pm Saturday. There is a constitutional provision that a total of 110 members are elected to the House of Representatives via the proportional electoral system.
Vote count halts in Sunsari 4
The Nepali Congress’ candidate, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, also the sitting Minister for Communications and Information Technology and contesting from Sunsari constituency 4, has demanded impartiality in vote count, claiming electoral frauds.
Mahindra Raye Yadav elected from Sarlahi-2
Nepal Samajwadi Party Chairman Mahindra Raye Yadav has been elected to the House of Representatives from Sarlahi-2. Yadav has been elected defeating senior leader of Loktantrik Samajbadi Party Rajendra Mahato by a margin of 2,011 votes.
RPP’s Bohara elected from Rupandehi-3 defeating Home Minister Khand
Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader Deepak Bohora has been elected from Rupandehi-3. Bohora won by defeating Home Minister and Nepali Congress leader Bal Krishna Khand by 2,681 votes.
NC still leading vote tally
Nepali Congress (NC) is still leading as the counting of votes is underway throughout the country. In the ongoing vote count of the election held on Sunday, Nepali Congress (NC) has taken the lead followed by CPN-UML so far. Till now, NC has won 51 seats and the UML 39.
Deuba and Prachanda agree on continuing five-party alliance
Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda have “agreed” to give continuity to the five-party alliance after the announcement of the final election results.
Prachanda and PM Deuba, who are “dissatisfied” with the election result, and the emergence of a new political party, have agreed to intensify dialogue and discussion on the formation of a new government comprising the current five political parties, sources said.
