KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Poudel has stressed the need to reform Nepal’s education system in line with the changing global landscape, equipping students to tackle future challenges and seize emerging opportunities.
Addressing a program organised today to mark the 80th anniversary of Pashupati Mitra Secondary School, the President said the education system must evolve alongside rapid advances in science, technology and artificial intelligence.
Emphasising the importance of social harmony and a strong sense of national responsibility, Poudel said education is the foundation of the nation’s future. He stressed that students should develop qualities such as discipline, honesty, hard work, morality, patriotism and social responsibility.
He noted that today’s students would become the teachers, doctors, engineers, administrators, entrepreneurs, politicians, scientists and responsible citizens of tomorrow. Therefore, education should go beyond textbook knowledge and the pursuit of high examination scores.
The President also highlighted the need to encourage students to develop problem-solving skills, think innovatively, use technology effectively and fulfil their responsibilities towards the nation.
He stressed that achieving these goals requires cooperation among the government, policymakers and all stakeholders in the education sector.
