‘Bhaitika’ observed en masse in Rani Pokhari

KATHMANDU: A mass celebration of Bhaitika, the main and last day of the five-day Tihar festival was organized at the Ranipokhari-based Balgopaleshwor Temple on Thursday.

The temple is opened only once on the day of Bhaitika, and those, who have no brothers and sister to exchange the Tihar tika, visit the temple to receive and offer Bhaitika.

As per the tradition, those, who have no siblings and those who could not visit their sisters due to various reasons, reached the temple for receiving Bhaitika, according to the Kathmandu metropolis spokesperson Nabin Manandhar.

Meanwhile, ‘Bhaitika’ was observed en masse at the Basantapur-based Kasthamandap Temple.

Anjali Maskey known as Anjali didi, offered ‘Bhaitika’ to the brothers who reached the temple to receive ‘tika’. She is said to have been offering ‘Bhaitika’ en masse since the past 23 years.
