Six persons missing in Pyuthan landslide

KATHMANDU: Six persons have gone missing in the landslide occurred in Pyuthan on Friday afternoon. The landslide buried the house belonging to Bam Bahadur Rahumagar at Pharinde of Mandabi Rural Municipality-4.

Spokesperson at District Police Office, Pyuthan, Sushil Thapamagar, informed that Bam Bahadur Rahumagar, 60; his wife (named, age unidentified), and Mausami Thapa, 18; Hira Bahadur Thapa, 60; Teki Rahumagar, 21; and Susan Thapa, 4, were missing in the landslide.

The Spokesperson added that a team comprising Chief District Officer Sunita Nepal and Deputy Superintendent of Police Subash Khadka left for the incident site after receiving the information at 3:00 pm. But, the team failed to reach the incident site due to landslides occurred at various places, he said.

However, a team led by Police Inspector Dipendra Baniya from Bijuwar Area Police Office and another led by Sub-Inspector of the Armed Police, Rishiram Basnet, have reached the incident site.

The incident site is 24-km away from the district headquarters.

Spokesperson Thapamagar further said as it would take time to resume the roadway, the police team from the district headquarters was heading to the landslide-hit area on foot.
