Call for law enforcement to end violence against single women



KATHMANDU: Stakeholders have stressed the need for the effective implementation of laws to end violence against single women.

At an event organized by the National Women Commission in Kathmandu on Thursday, the NWC office bearers and representatives of various non-governmental organizations working for the welfare of women emphasized the making of laws and their implementation in this regard.

Discrimination against single women still exists in the society, and their way of treating single women should change, stressed the NWC Chairperson Kamala Kumari Parajuli.

Similarly, the NWC member Krishna Kumari Khatiwada worried over continuous violence against single women.

All sorts of violence against them should end, she demanded.

Chairperson of the Single Women Group Kabita Pandey stated that single women were deprived of their right to properties and freedom.
