KATHMANDU: The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has issued a diffusion notice against Nepali cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane.
According to Nepal Police Headquarters, Interpol issued a diffusion notice against Lamichhane at the request of the Nepal Police.
After diffusion notice is issued, as many as 135 countries affiliated with Interpol will begin search operation to trace Lamichhane. A Nepal Police official said if Lamichhane is found in a certain country, then the police organization of that country would start the process of sending him to Nepal.
A minor girl has filed a police complaint against the cricketer on the charge of rape.
Lamichhane, who was playing the Caribbean Premier League in West Indies when the complaint was filed, has yet to return to Nepal. His whereabouts are still a mystery.
Police Spokesperson Tek Prasad Rai said all processes have been initiated to trace Lamichhane.
