Foreign Minister Khadka returning home today



KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr. Narayan Khadka, who is on a visit to China, is returning home today.

Minister Khadka, who reached China on Tuesday night at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, is returning home tonight.

Bilateral talks on various topics were held Wednesday in Qingdao, China.

During the talks, China announced to commission a feasibility study of the Kerung-Kathmandu railway on grant assistance.

In a bilateral meeting with visiting Minister Khadka, China’s Foreign Minister Yi made the announcement.

During the talks, the two sides made a comprehensive review of Nepal-China relations and bilateral cooperation and also agreed to further extend assistance in the areas of trade, connectivity, investment, health, tourism, poverty alleviation, agriculture, disaster risk reduction, education and culture, among others, stated a press release issued by the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing.

In addition, China has also pledged support to Nepal with more than 15 billion rupees in various topics including physical infrastructure, disaster management and health materials.

China also assured the Nepali delegation that the construction of the second phase of the Kathmandu Ring Road Improvement Project will start soon.

Minister Dr. Khadka had set out to China on August 9 leading an 11-member Nepali delegation.
