KATHMANDU: CPN Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has claimed that his party would easily win 20 to 25 seats in the upcoming House of Representatives elections under the proportional representation system.
Stating that the Unified Socialist received 900,000 votes even though it filed nominations only in 28 percent of the municipalities in the local level elections, Chairman Nepal said they would bring about 2 to 2.5 million votes if candidates were fielded all over the country.
Speaking at a program held by the party-affiliated Tamang Association, in Kathmandu, on Saturday, he said, “We had fieled about 28 percent candidates. But we received 927,000 votes. If we had fielded candidates in all places, probably we would have got 2 to 2.5 million votes. With that much of votes, no one can deny us 20 to 25 seats under proportional representation system. This shows that our party is not weak.”
Leader Nepal instructed the workers to start preparing for the upcoming elections and asked them not to always rely on the alliance. He stressed strengthening the party on its own.
