YCL demands action against governor for holding post without required academic qualification

KATHMANDU: A youth wing of ruling CPN (Maoist Center), Young Communist League (YCL), has filed a complaint at the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) against Nepal Rastra Bank Governor, Maha Prasad Adhikari.

The League argued that Adhikari was holding post without required academic qualification.

A team led by YCL coordinator Suman Devkota reached the CIAA Office, Tangal, and lodged the complaint.

YCL further argued in the complaint letter that Section 21 of Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2058 has not allowed anyone to be qualified for the post if he/she is a member or office bearer of any political party. But, Adhikari is found to be the member of Finance and Planning Department of CPN-UML.

The YCL accused that Adhikari lacked academic qualification- Master’s Degree- to the appointed as the Governor. He only holds a Bachelor’s Degree.

On Wednesday too, the YCL and ANNISU (Revolutionary) had staged protest in Kathmandu demanding Adhikar’s removal from the post.

This issue has also entered in the federal parliament. On Thursday alone, lawmaker Narayan Kaji Shrestha urged Governor Adhikari to resign from the post.
