Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, is one of the world’s important spiritual sites. The place, which attracts Buddhists and tourists from around the world, boasts of over 25 Buddhist monasteries built by various countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Germany, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, South Korea, and other countries.

Located in Nepal’s Kapilvastu district, Lumbini is one of the famous tourist destinations. The place offers a variety of attractions such as monasteries, garden, ponds, stupas, and the Ashoka Pillar as well as the events related to Buddha’s life.

This was the place where Maya Devi gave birth to Buddha, Siddhartha Gautam. In Lumbini, UNESCO’s world heritage site, one can find various inscriptions, bricks and several pieces of evidence of being the Buddha’s birthplace. The place was rediscovered by Nepali archaeologists in 1896.

The Maya Devi temple, which is the exact spot of Buddha’s birth, is the major attraction of Lumbini.Top of Form
