IPL: Delhi defeats Hyderabad by 21 runs



KATHMANDU: Delhi Capitals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 21 runs in the cricket match held under the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday night.

Hyderabad were restricted to 186 runs with the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs while they were chasing the 208-run target set by Delhi.

Hyderabad’s Nicholas Pooran topped the score with 62 runs followed by Aiden Markram and Rahul Tripathi with 42 and 22 runs respectively.

Khaleel Ahmed and Shardul Thakur took three and two wickets from Hyderabad, respectively.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Delhi notched up 207 runs losing three wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Delhi’s David Warner topped the score with 92 runs studded with 12 fours and three sixes off 58 balls and remained unbeaten. Similarly, Rovman Powell and Rishabh Pant hit 67 and 26 runs, respectively.

In reply, Shreyas Gopal, Sean Abbott, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed one wicket each from Delhi.

With this win, Delhi has climbed to the fifth position with 10 points in the points table while Hyderabad is in the sixth position with an equal of 10 points.
