IPL: Kolkata defeats Rajasthan by 7 wickets



MUMBAI: Kolkata Night Riders have defeated Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in a cricket match held at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai under the India Premier League (IPL) on Monday night.

Chasing the 153-run target set by Rajasthan, Kolkata reached the target in 19.1 overs at the cost of three wickets.
Nitish Rana topped the score with 48 unbeaten runs including four fours and two sixes off 37 balls. Similarly, Sinku Singh hit 42 runs while Shreyas Iyer made 34 runs for Kolkata.

In reply, Rajasthan’s Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, and Kuldeep Sen took one wicket each from Kolkata.

Earlier, electing to field first after winning the toss, Rajasthan had notched up 152 runs losing five wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Rajasthan’s skipper Sanju Samson topped the score with 54 runs including seven fours and one six off 49 balls while Shimron Hetmyer and Jos Buttler made 27 and 22 runs respectively.

In reply, Tim Southee took two wickets while Shivam Mavi, Anukul Roy, and Umesh Yadav grabbed one wicket each.
With this win, Kolkata has climbed to the seventh position with eight points from 10 matches while Rajasthan is in the third position with 12 points from 10 games.
