Gujarat beats Hyderabad to top IPL points table



MUMBAI: Debutant Gujarat Titans has climbed atop the points table of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

In a scintillating match held in Mumbai on Wednesday night, Gujarat has topped the points table by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets.

Gujarat reached the target of 196 runs set for it by Hyderabad in the allotted 20 overs by losing five wickets.

Gujarat’s Wriddhiman Saha topped the score with 68 runs studded with 11 fours and one six off 38 balls.

Similarly, Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan made 40 and 31 runs respectively.

In reply, Umran Malik took five wickets from Gujarat.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Hyderabad notched up 195 runs losing six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Abhishek Sharma topped the score with 65 runs including six fours and three sixes off 45 balls. Similarly, Aiden Markram hit 56 runs while Shashank Singh made 25 unbeaten runs.

In reply, Mohammed Shami grabbed two wickets while Alzarri Joseph and Yash Dayal took one wicket each from Hyderabad.

This is the seventh victory of Gujarat. With the win, Gujarat has climbed atop the points table with 14 points from eight points.

Similarly, Hyderabad is in the third position with 10 points from eight games.
