KATHMANDU: The hearing on the writ petition filed against the appointments in the constitutional bodies by the then KP Oli-led government a year ago is to be continued.
After today’s (Friday) hearing, the constitutional bench comprising acting Chief Justice Deepak Kumar Karki, Justices Mira Khadka, Harikrishna Karki, Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha and Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada decided to continue the hearing on the next court day.
A meeting of the Constitutional Council held on December 15, 2020, had recommended appointments of 45 office bearers in various constitutional bodies. Senior lawyers and advocates had filed nine separate writ petitions against the decision.
The writ petition could not be heard for a long time.
KP Oli-government had made the appointment amending the Constitutional Council Act through ordinance.
