Home Minister for safe handling of international airport

KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand has said that country’s pride will be promoted if the country’s international airport was well-managed.

At an interaction with the stakeholder agencies responsible for the coordination, mobilisation and management of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Tuesday, Minister Khand said the country would have to pay a huge price if use of Nepal’s airport impacted any country and the neighboring countries.

Presided over by Home Minister Khand, in the meeting, he underlined the need for running the airports systematically to demonstrate Nepal as a safe country while adding that the government was working to equip the TIA technologically.

Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha, Foreign Affairs Secretary Bharat Raj Poudyal, Tourism Secretary Maheshwor Neupane and Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey were present during the meeting.

Meanwhile, the meeting has formed a seven-member probe committee to form a concrete plan of action to resolve the problems Nepalis facing in the Gulf countries including of those travelling to Dubai in visit visa for job.

Joint Secretary Phanindra Mani Pokharel of the Home Ministry will lead the panel. The panel comprises Joint Secretary Buddhi Sagar Lamichhane of Culture Ministry, Joint Secretary Shesh Narayan Poudel of Labour Ministry, Joint Secretary Harish Chandra Ghimire of Foreign Affairs Ministry, Senior Superintendent of Police Bhim Prasad Dhakal and Director of Immigration Department Prakash Chandra Adhikari.

Under Secretary Din Bandhu Subedi of Foreign Employment Board will serve as the Member Secretary of the panel.
