Thousands throng highland of Dolpa to collect yarsagumba



KATHMANDU: Over 8,000 locals have thronged highland of Dolpa to collect yarsagumba after the district officially announced the opening for picking  caterpillar fungus on Tuesday.

Over 70 highlands including Bhokpa, Bhanka, Kunas, Sagarbari were officially opened for picking yarsagumba, according to Pramod Kumar Yadav, acting conservation officer of She-Phoksundo Nationla Park.

It is estimated that the number of picnickers is likely to reach 20,000 this year. Meanwhile, the revenue has gone up by 26 percent.

Yarsapickers have entered the national park through various checkpoints including Suligand, Toijum, Tripurakot, Sumduwal, etc.
