Koirala faction to up the ante if qualified leaders sidelined



KATHMANDU: The Koirala faction of the Nepali Congress has decided to pile pressure on the establishment side.

A meeting of the faction led by Dr Shekhar Koirala on Wednesday took a decision to this effect.

Office-bears and central working committee members from the Koirala faction had attended the meeting held at Basera Hotel near Singha Durbar.

The meeting had reviewed the 14th General Convention of the party and the upcoming strategy.

Floating a four-point written views in the meeting, Koirala called on all the leaders of his group to stand united against the activities that contradict with the party statute. The faction has also decided to protest if the qualified leaders are sidelined.

As many as 134 candidates who had fought the elections in the general convention from the Koirala panel were present in the meeting.

Koirala held the meeting with the leaders of his faction even though he had earlier publicly stated that there would be no factional meetings.
