Rabid dog bites 18 in two days



KANCHANPUR: A rabid dog indiscriminately bit 18 people in the past two days, Wednesday and Thursday, at Shuklaphanta municipality – 4 and 11 in the district.

They all are receiving treatment at the Mahakali Provincial Hospital, Mahendranagar for the bite injuries.

Of the injured, 12 are from ward no 4 and remaining others are from the ward no 11.

The injured are from a seven-year-old to a sixty-year-old. Area Police Office Jhalari’s police inspector Karna Bahadur Bohara said the dog also bit 21 animals.

Local representative Gyan Bahadur Bist said the local government has been already urged to take measures to prevent the rabid dog menace.

As he said, stray dogs issue remains as the problem of the locality. “I have requested for the rabies vaccine to the injured.”

Following the incident, people are worried to send their children to schools.

Mayor Dil Bahadur Ayer promised to mobilise a team to control the menace of rabid dog.
