Youth dies buried in tunnel of Likhu Hydropower Project



KHOTANG: A 28 year youth of Khotang has died being buried in the tunnel of Likhu Hydropower Project in Solukhumbu.

Ram Krishna Rai, 28, of Khotehang-8, Simpani, Khotang died after being buried in the tunnel of Likhu Hydropower Project.

According to the Project’s engineer, Ganesh Sharma, Rai died on the spot when he was working inside the tunnel at around 3 am on Monday. He had reached Solukhumbu about a month ago to work on the hydropower project.

Sharma informed that the deceased body would be sent for post-mortem after the arrival of his relatives.

While working inside the tunnel, Ramakrishna had fallen about 400 meters when the mound fell on him. Jagat Shrestha, 21, of Jiri, Dolakha and Pravindra Rai, 28, of Molung, Okhaldhunga were injured in the incident.

The injured have been airlifted to KMC Hospital, Kathmandu for treatment.
