Municipal Hospital comes into operation in Balewa



PARBAT: A municipal hospital has come into operation in Balewa, adjoining Kushma Bazaar, the district headquarters.

The hospital has been established with the objective of providing quality health services to the citizens of three wards of Baglung Municipality.

The municipal hospital has been set up by upgrading the health post at Paiunpata in Balewa. Mayor Janak Raj Poudel inaugurated the hospital on Friday. The hospital has been operated in the old structure for the moment. “We will construct a new building with all required facilities within a year. We also plan to add human resource,” said Poudel.

A budget of Rs. 180 million has been allocated for the construction of the new building, while nine ropani of land has been provided for the construction of the hospital by the locals.

The hospital has been set up in Paiunpata under the policy of ‘one local level, one hospital’. The municipality has stated that the hospital will have 27 people personnel including three doctors. Currently, there are eight employees including senior AHW, health assistant, ANMI and office assistant.

Narayan Sharma Poudel, Ward Chairman of Paiunpata, shared that about 27,000 citizens of Paiunpata, Narayansthan and Amalachaur of Baglung Municipality will benefit from the operation of the hospital. Earlier, due to the lack of a reliable hospital, people had to go to Baglung, Kushma, Pokhara and other places for medical treatment.
