Nepal, India ink train procurement deal



KATHMANDU: Nepal and India on Friday inked a deal on the procurement of a demo train that operates on diesel.

According to the agreement, Nepal will procure two diesel-operated trains.

Nepal has signed an agreement with Kokan Railway Corporation Limited to this effect, said Balaram Mishra, Director General at the Department of Railway.

Earlier, the government had decided to provide Rs 846 million ,500 thousand to the department to to operate a train on Janakpur-Jayanagar-Kurtha railroad section.

According to Mishra, both the rails will arrive in Nepal withing five months.
