Prathama Upreti elected Coordinator of Second Committee for UNGA 76th session



KATHMANDU: Prathama Upreti is elected as the Coordinator of the Economic and Financial Committee, also known as the Second Committee, for the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The Second Committee is one of the six main committees of the UNGA.

Upreti was elected in the 76th UNGA election held on Sunday at the UN Headquarters in New York, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

Upreti, who is also a MoFA Deputy Secretary, will have a term of office till September.

Also, Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has been elected as the President for the 76th session of UNGA.

Permanent Representative of Nepal to UN Amrit Bahadur Rai chaired the Second Committee at its 75th session.
