Takes oath of office and secrecy

POKHARA: Prithvi Subba Gurung has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Gandaki Province.

Province Chief Sita Kumari Poudel appointed Gurung as the Chief Minister on Wednesday.

State Chief Poudel had given three days to claim a majority government after Prithvi Subba Gurung resigned on April 10.

The three-day deadline expired today.

Lawmakers could not submit signatures of 31 parliamentarians within the time limit given to claim the majority within three days as per the Constitution of Nepal.

Hence, Province Chief Poudel appointed Gurung, the leader of the UML parliamentary party, as the Chief Minister.

After Janamorcha parliamentary party leader Krishna Thapa and another lawmaker, Khim Bikram Shahi did not support the formation of a new government.

Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Krishna Chandra Nepali could not get the signatures of 31 lawmakers in his favor. It has been said that 29 lawmakers have signed in his favor.
