UK sending ventilators, oxygen concentrators to India in fight against coronavirus



NEW DELHI: The United Kingdom (UK) said it is sending more than 600 pieces of medical equipment including ventilators and oxygen concentrators to India to support the country’s fight against the raging Covid-19 second wave, India Today reported.

The assistance package includes ventilators and oxygen concentrators from surplus stocks.

It will be used by the government of India to provide medical treatment to people suffering from Covid-19 in India, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said.

The first shipment of equipment is arriving in New Delhi today morning. Further shipments are due to follow later this week, the report said.

As many as nine airline container loads of supplies such as 495 oxygen concentrators, 120 non-invasive ventilators and 20 manual ventilators will be sent to India this week.
