India PM Modi addresses inaugural session of Raisina Dialogue 2021

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi virtually addressed the inaugural session of the sixth edition of Raisina Dialogue on April 13 about #ViralWorld: Outbreaks, Outliers and Out of Control”.

In his address PM Modi said, “”During this pandemic, in our own humble way, within our own limited resources, we in India have tried to walk the talk. We have tried to protect our own 1.3 billion citizens from the pandemic.”

He added, “At the same time, we have also tried to support pandemic response efforts of others,” Noting that this year, despite “many constraints”, India supplied vaccines to over 80 countries, he said.”

PM Modi further stated: “We will continue to share our experiences, our expertise and also our resources with the entire Humanity in the fight against the pandemic.”

President of Rwanda and Prime Minister of Denmark were chief guests of the inaugural session.

The session was also attended by Carl Bildt, Former Prime Minister of Sweden; Anthony Abbott, Former Prime Minister of Australia, and Helen Clark, former Prime Minister of New Zealand.

Foreign Ministers of France, Portugal, Slovenia, Romania, Singapore, Nigeria, Japan, Italy, Sweden, Australia, Kenya, Chile, Maldives, Iran, Qatar, Poland, Turkey and Bhutan also participated.

The Raisina Dialogue is India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geo-economics, held annually since 2016.

It is jointly organized by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Observer Research Foundation.

Due to the exceptional circumstances of Covid-19 pandemic, the organizers have decided to the hold the Dialogue virtually. The theme for the 2021 Edition is “#ViralWorld: Outbreaks, Outliers and Out of Control”.

Over the course of four days, the Dialogue, will have panel conversations on five thematic pillars – WHOse Multilateralism? Reconstructing the UN and Beyond; Securing and Diversifying Supply Chains; Global ‘Public Bads’: Holding Actors and Nations to Account; Infodemic: Navigating a ‘No-Truth’ World in the Age of Big Brother; The Green Stimulus: Investing in Gender, Growth, and Development.
