 ANNFSU pickets NOC’s office over petro-price hike



KATHMANDU:  The Office of the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), the state oil monopoly, has been gheraoed for hiking the price of petroleum products on Monday.

The cadres of All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) hit the streets and picketed the NOC’s office demanding the withdrawal of its decision to raise the prices of petroleum products.

The NOC on Sunday hiked the price of petrol, diesel and kerosene by Rs 2 per liter effective from Sunday midnight.

With the new price adjustment, the retail price of petrol in Kathmandu has reached Rs 120 per liter, diesel and kerosene Rs 103 per liter.

Generally, the corporation adjusts the price on the 1st and 16th of the English month. The corporation has stated that the price of petrol has been increased as per the regulated price received from Indian Oil Corporation on April 1, 2021.

However, the prices of aviation fuel and LPG remained unchanged, the corporation said.
