Yarshagumba bartered for liquor



KATHMANDU: Yarshagumba collectors are found to have bartered yarshagumba for liquor. According to a report in Nagarik daily, traders are found to be stealthily taking liquor and bartering them for  caterpillar fungus in Bajhang district.

Yarsha is available in Surma and Saipal Rural Municipalities of Bajhang district. Chalawan, Dhanesari, Kalapani, Surma Tal, Majha, Raidhungi, Binayak, Nangna, Saipal are declared as liquor free zones by the local administration. However, the traders are selling liquor  for yashagumba.

According to the report, a quarter of virgin which is available for Rs 250 costs Rs 1, 200 in the region. Similarly, small piece of yarsha is available for Rs 4000 while the big one costs Rs 500.
