FNCCI to promote startup companies



KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) is working for the promotion of startup companies to create more employment opportunities in science and technology sector in the changed context.

Aiming at entrepreneurship development and employment creation, the FNCCI has formed Startup and Innovation Committee, the first of its kind in the FNCCI.

FNCCI Executive Committee Member Ranjit Raj Acharya would lead such panel. The committee is expected to work to mainstream the startups to create more job opportunities in line with the roadmap of economic transformation unveiled by the FNCCI.

FNCCI President Shekhar Golchha said that the startups would be identified and supported for their growth while helping them in capital investment. It is said that at least 50 investors would be provided with a platform for interaction under the auspices of the committee to help grow the startup ventures.

President Golchha said that program formulation for investment and commercial partnership has been prepared and application for the startup business firms would be announced after two weeks. To be eligible for submitting their application, the startup businesses should have been run at least one year or more than one year.

The application would be accepted from all sectors including agriculture, production, information technology and others. According to FNCCI, the startup businesses have grown in Nepal after the Gorkha Earthquake and COVID-19 outbreak, and technology-based small and medium-size enterprises have grown remarkably.
