US Embassy “saddened” over violence against Asian Americans



KATHMANDU: American Embassy in Kathmandu has said it has been deeply saddened by the incidents of violence against Asian Americans in the United States of America (USA).

Posting a Twitter message, the Embassy urged all the concerned to stop such kinds of violence and hatred on the Asian Americans.

“As Americans representing our country abroad in Nepal and throughout Asia, we’re deeply saddened by the violence against Asian Americans at home. While we don’t know the motives, we stand with the Asian American and Pacific Islander community and condemn any acts of hate,” the Embassy tweeted.

According to a study, as many as 38 incidents of violence against Asian Americans have occurred since the COVID-19 pandemic that started last year.

Earlier, a Nepali Uber driver Shubhakar Khadka was manhandled by passengers in San Francisco of the USA.

This incident has hit the headlines across the globe saying that an Uber driver of Asian origin was manhandled and attacked with pepper spray.
