KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has claimed that the country has entered a peaceful era with the signing of the three-point agreement between the government and the Netra Bikram Chand Biplav-led Nepal Communist Party.
He termed the moment as a historic and great leap towards peace congratulating the General Secretary of the Nepal Communist Party “Biplav” for joining peaceful politics by renouncing violent activities.
“Now that the agreement has been signed, the Biplav-group will be a part of Nepal’s peaceful politics,” an enthusiastic Prime Minister KP Oli, after the signing of the agreement with the Chand-led group at the Rastriya Sabha Griha (City Hall) on Friday, said.
Prime Minister Oli termed Biplav’s decision and contribution as a safe landing, not a “forced landing”.
“Be assured, we will not take to violent means to resolve any issues, which means that we will deal all issues in a peaceful manner,” PM Oli added amid applauds.
PM Oli also said that the government would start releasing all the leaders and the cadres of the NCP following due process.
He further said that Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali is everyone’s dreams and that all Nepalis need to work towards that end.
Prime Minister Oli and leader of the once “outlawed” group “Biplav” on Friday shared the same stage to witness the signing of the peace deal that brought the rebel group to peaceful politics.
Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa “Badal” and Khadga Bahadur Bishwokarma “Prakanda”, who is also the spokesperson of the Nepal Communist Party led by Biplav signed an agreement at a jampacked hall of Rastriya Sabha Griha (City Hall) in Kathmandu Friday afternoon.
According to the agreement, the Biplav-led Nepal Communist Party has agreed to pursue peaceful politics by renouncing violent activities.
Likewise, the government has agreed to lift the ban imposed against the group, and release all prisoners and scrap cases filed against its leaders.
Similarly, the group has agreed to resolve its political demands through negotiations.
