KATHMANDU: The government has decided to pay in advance in the purchase of the Covishield vaccine from India.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar Tuesday evening made the decision to this effect.
This has paved the way to procure 2 million doses of Covishield vaccine from India at the rate of US$ 4 per vaccine.
Although an agreement was reached with the Serum Institute of India to purchase one dose of the vaccine for US$ 4, the procurement process had not proceeded for the payment.
Minister for Health and Population Hridayesh Tripathi informed that the cabinet decision has paved the way to procure the vaccines from India.
