Ambassador Pollitt commits to assist Nepal in COVID-19 vaccination drive



KATHMANDU: British Ambassador to Nepal Nicola Pollitt paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel on Tuesday.

During the meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, they discussed issues of friendship and bilateral cooperation, said Spokesperson Shankar Nepal.

Stating that climate change is Nepal’s priority, Deputy Prime Minister Pokharel recalled that a delegation including President Bidya Devi Bhandari had represented Nepal at the Climate Change Conference (COP-24) in Poland in 2019.

He thanked the United Kingdom for its support to Nepal’s development and for the treatment of COVID-19.

On the occasion, Ambassador Pollitt appreciated the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 launched by Nepal for its citizens at risk and expressed her commitment to assist Nepal in this campaign.

She expressed confidence that Nepal would actively participate in the Climate Change Conference (COP-24) to be held in the United Kingdom in November 2021.
