Why do men break down less than women?

KATHMANDU: It is human nature that we usually shed tears at the time of distress, happiness, achievement and losses, etc. Males are usually seen break down less than females comparatively. We are aware of it. Nonetheless, reason remains unanswered.

Prince Harry in a documentary  said he had broken down only one time in 22 years of his life when his mother passed away.

Ad Vingerhoets a clinical psychologist, who has spent more than 20 years on when and why we cry, came up with a new finding. According to his finding, women weep from 30 to 64 times while men break down 6 to 17 times a year.

Renowned psychologist Georgia Ray has indicated social and psychological factors behind why men cry less than women. According to her, people break down due to prolactin hormone which is more in women than men.

That is why men weep less than women. Most of the societies in the world are male-dominated. The society expects more from men than women which is also responsible to subjugating emotion of men.
