KATHMANDU: Senior Advocate Dr. Yuba Raj Sangraula has said that provided the House of Representatives (HoR) is not reinstated, the HoR will be dissolved every two years.
Taking part in the ongoing debate and speaking on behalf of the writ petitioners at the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court, he said that the constitution does not allow a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister for two years.
He further argued that the Prime Minister would then set a precedent of dissolving the parliament.
“If the parliament is not reconstituted, despite referring the term of HoR as five years, the House will be dissolved by the PM every time someone raises voice against the government,” Sangraula argued.
“Our constitution has accepted the periodic election, we have not accepted the mid-term election. The periodic election will be held every five years.”
