Man killed in lightning strike while working in Jhapa



KATHMANDU: A man was killed after being struck by lightning in Gauriganj Rural Municipality of Jhapa on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Bal Bahadur Shrestha of Sayapatri Tol, Ward No. 3 of Gauriganj.

According to District Police Office Jhapa Information Officer Ranjan Awale, Shrestha was originally from Amchok-9 in Bhojpur and had been living in a rented room at the house of local resident Chandramaya Shrestha.

Police said the incident occurred while he was digging an irrigation channel in the morning when lightning struck him.

He died on the spot, according to police. Authorities have initiated further procedures following the incident.
