Parliament dissolution unconstitutional, don’t accept it: Legal eagles advise Prachanda-Nepal

KATHMANDU: Senior advocates have advised Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leaders not to accept the dissolution of the Parliament as it is unconstitutional.

Offering their advice in a discussion organized by NCP leaders including Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Madhav Kumar Nepal and Spokesperson Narayankaji Shrestha, the legal experts urged the leaders not to validate Prime Minister KP Oli’s decision to dissolve the Parliament.

Lawyers Yubaraj Sangroula, Tika Ram Bhattarai, Shambhu Thapa, Ram Narayan Bidari among others told the leaders that they should not accept the decision of dissolution.

“There is a certain condition in the constitution for the dissolution of parliament, but the current situation is not as described there,” Senior Advocate and member of the National Assembly Ram Narayan Bidari informed about the opinions suggested to the leaders, “As the parliament is not dissolved the President can be requested to summon the parliament.”

According to the sources, after hearing from the lawyers Prachanda informed them that the leaders would decide it by Monday evening.

“Nepali Congress has called an all-party meeting today, we will decide collectively,” the source quoted Prachanda as saying.
