RSP moves ahead with district-level leadership elections in 38 districts

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has advanced its district-level leadership selection process as part of its ongoing organizational restructuring campaign, with voting and election procedures underway in 38 districts on Saturday.

According to the party’s Election Commission, led by Chief Bhuvan K.C., district conventions and leadership elections were held across multiple provinces as part of preparations for the party’s first national convention.

Voting and leadership selection processes were conducted in districts including Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Makwanpur, Kavrepalanchok, Chitwan, Kaski, Dang, Banke, Kailali, and several other districts across all seven provinces.

The party said the process is aimed at transforming its organizational structure into a fully elected and democratically legitimized system ahead of the national convention.

The RSP has set a target of completing district-level conventions in 67 out of 77 districts before its first national convention, scheduled for June 07–09 in Chitwan.

Remaining district-level conventions in 10 districts will be completed after the national convention, according to the party.

The Election Commission has deployed three-member district-level committees and five-member provincial committees to ensure transparency and impartiality in the electoral process.

Officials said these arrangements are intended to ensure fair internal elections and strengthen organizational legitimacy.

The party is also set to begin provincial conventions from June 21, starting with Bagmati Province, as part of its broader restructuring roadmap.
