30 security personnel for former president; 96 for former king

KATHMANDU: People in general have showed concerns over the rationale behind the security being provided to the former President and king.

According to Naya Patrika daily, 30 security personnel have been deployed for former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav while 96 police personnel providing security for former King Gyanendra Shah.

Forty security personnel are providing security for king Shah under the command of a DSP, 15 for the security of Nagarjun-based residence while 41 security personnel for private residence under the command of another DSP.

On the other hand two platoons and two policemen have been deployed for former President Ram Baran Yadav.

An official at the Home Ministry said that providing more security to the  former king than the former president is against the spirit of republic. From the point of security, 20-25 policemen are sufficient for the security of former king, said police officers.
