Journalist Sitaram Barma cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat



KATHMANDU: Dhading district correspondent of Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) Sitaram Barma has been cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat.

Last rites were performed for Barma by lightning his funeral pyre by his son as per the Hindu tradition.

Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leader Rajendra Pandey, Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dilman Pakhrin, NC Dhading President Ramesh Dhamala, Press Council Nepal Acting President Gopal Budhathoki, Federation of Nepalese Journalist, Dhading Nawaraj Chhatkuli including journalists from Kathmandu and Dhading had reached Pashupati to pay last tributes to the departed soul.

Journalist Barma, 79, passed away in the course of treatment at Gwarko-based KIST Medical College in Lalitpur this morning. Barma had been suffering from high blood pressure and pneumonia.

Founder President of Federation of Nepalese Journalists, Dhading chapter, Barma had been honored with the title of press freedom fighter by Press Council Nepal.

Barma is survived by his wife, one son and three daughters.
