DOHA: Seventeen Nepalis have been forced to live under the open sky with almost no foods for the last seven months in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) National Coordination Council, UAE had arranged foods for them who were left behind in the airport after being unable to pay fine.
NRNA, UAE Chairman Prakash Koirala and Vice Chairman Pasang Sherpa have already told them to leave their rooms saying that they cannot offer them shelters and foods any more.
“The NRNA who rescued us also stopped helping us. Where will we go now? We don’t have money even to call the Embassy,” moaned Nabin Pariyar of Rukum, adding, “Please take us up to the Embassy. If the Nepal government and the Embassy cannot rescue us, handover to the police. We are ready to face any kinds of actions.”
According to Nabin, he had reached the airport on August 10 to return home. He has now nothing except a piece of clothing on his body since all his luggages were left behind at the airport.
It’s been one and a half months since he returned from the airport.
“Family members often call me when I return home,” said Krishna Bahadur Gandarbha of Arghakhanchi, adding, “I have no answer.”
He further complained that the Nepal government did not bother to rescue them and added that there is no option left for them except for committing suicide.
They had been rendered jobless a month after they joined Flex Facility Management Company, UAE.
Shiva Bachchan Rauniyar and Ajaya Mahat of Bara Kalaiya have no different stories. They are also desperately waiting for their rescue since the last seven months.
Even though NRNA rescued them from the airport, now they have been left in high and dry in the foreign land without foods and shelters. They are no longer getting assistance from the organization now, let alone receiving their calls.
