KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has granted approval for setting up of Border Out Post (BOP) at Olangchungola of Taplejung, border checkpoint with China and Dattu in Darchula, border checkpoint with India.
As per the proposal submitted to the Home Ministry by the Armed Police Force Nepal to set up BOPs in different parts of the country, the Ministry has given the approval to set up BOPs in two places on Thursday.
Spokesperson of the Armed Police Force Nepal, Deputy Inspector General of Police Raju Aryal informed that the outpost will be set up as soon as the land is received.
The government plans to set up outposts in other areas as well.
Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has already announced to set up 500 outposts in the border areas of the country.
At present, outposts have been set up at 157 places along the China-India border. There are five on the Chinese side. Aryal informed that outposts have been set up at 50 places in the last one-year alone.
According to the ministry, the government has targeted to set up 221 places out of 500 BOPs in the first phase.
According to the Armed Police Force, it is planned to be completed within the current fiscal year. Each outpost has 35 armed police.
