Prachanda, Oli finalize agendas for Standing Committee meeting

KATHMANDU: Chairman of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Prime Minister KP Oli held a meeting at the Prime Minister’s official’s residence in Baluwatar.

The meeting was focused on finalizing agenda for Thursday’s Secretariat and Friday’s Standing Committee meetings, Baluwatar sources said.

Dahal and Oli also discussed the report prepared by the six-member task force led by party General Secretary Bishnu Poudel to narrow down the rift seen inside the ruling party.

Despite coming closer on some major issues, including the decision to nominate NCP Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam to the National Assembly, the party leadership is caught in a dispute on issues regarding the supposed cabinet reshuffle, and Chief Ministers.

Party insiders say that leadership is reluctant to address the recommendations of the task force.

Likewise, Dahal and Oli also discussed the appointment of two ministers – Minister of Communication and Information, and Minister of Finance – after the resignation of the then Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada.
