Govt removes ban on land plotting

KATHMANDU: The government has removed a ban on the land plotting.

A meeting of the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation lifted the ban on the land plotting imposed three years ago.

Dispatching a circular following the meeting, the Ministry has informed the Survey Department that the restriction on the plotting of the land has been removed.

Earlier, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had advised the Ministry to remove the ban imposed on the land plotting.

The Ministry was making preparations to remove the restrictions following the suggestion by the anti-graft body.

The land plotting had, however, not stopped despite the ban on it. It was taking place in an indirect manner, incurring a heavy loss in the revenue collection, said an official at the Ministry.
