NEW DELHI: The first batch of five Rafale fighter jets that took off from France on Monday arrived at the Ambala air base in India on Wednesday afternoon.
Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria received the fighter jets. Security was tightened near the Ambala air base, Indian media reports have said.
The government had imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 around the Ambala Air Force Station with a ban on photography and videography.
The authorities had also banned gatherings of four or more people.
People were asked to not fly drones near the air base or shoot photos and videos.
India had on September 23, 2016 sealed the IRs 59,000-crore deal to procure 36 Rafale jets from French aerospace major Dassault Aviation.
The aircraft is capable of carrying a range of potent weapons.
