India builds science block for Mahendra Morang Multiple Campus

KATHMANDU: A new science block building of Mahendra Morang Multiple Campus, Biratnagar was jointly inaugurated by Embassy of India in Kathmandu, District Coordination Committee of Morang and Campus Management Committee through video-conferencing facility.

The building has been built with Government of India grant assistance of NR 4.43 crore with DCC Morang as the implementing agency, a statement issued by the Embassy of India said.

The project was taken up by the Embassy of India, as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDPs), earlier known as Small Development Project, under India-Nepal bilateral initiation to support and strengthen grass-root infrastructure development projects across Nepal, it added.

Projects under this initiative benefit the communities in the project area, particularly in the areas of education, health, connectivity, drinking water and sanitation, vocational training, medical campus, etc, it said.

India has completed 422 HICDPs, covering 77 districts of Nepal with a financial grant of over NRs 798.7 crore since 2003.

Established in 1955, the Campus is one of the largest affiliated campuses of Tribhuvan University in Province-1.

The newly built two storied Science Block Building has 17 classrooms, laboratories, stores and separate sanitation facilities for boys and girls on each floor and will benefit nearly 7000 undergraduate and doctoral students and faculty members of the Campus.
