House panel directs govt to take action against media houses expelling journos



KATHMANDU: The Development and Technology Committee of the Parliament has directed the government to take legal action against the media houses firing employees and journalists against the prevailing laws.

The House panel has directed to take action against the media house for forcibly removing the working journalists who are working day and night in the uncomfortable and risky situation created by the coronavirus pandemic.

Committee Chairperson Kalyani Kumari Khadka said that the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology has been instructed to take action against the media houses for keeping them on unpaid leave, not paying fixed remuneration, cutting service facilities and violating contract agreements.
