Traffic violations generate Rs 2.11 million in revenue in a day



KATHMANDU: Traffic police took action against 2,102 motorists for violating traffic rules across the Kathmandu Valley over the past 24 hours, collecting more than Rs 2.11 million in fines.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, 89 drivers were booked for drunk driving, 108 for unauthorized ride-sharing, 99 for running red lights, and 83 for overspeeding.

Police also took action against 59 motorists for violating lane discipline, 100 for honking in prohibited areas, two for driving under the influence of drugs, and 78 for driving on one-way roads.

In addition, 1,484 motorists were penalized for various other traffic offences, the office said.
