KATHMANDU: The low-pressure system over the Nepali sky is forecasted to bring heavy rainfall across the country for five more days.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said that rainfall is likely in the country until the system is cleared.

Department’s Director-General Sarju Kumar Baidhya on Monday briefed the Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barsha Man Pun over the country’s weather status. On the occasion, Baidhya said that the rainfall in the country will gradually slow after July 24.

In the past 24 hours, most of the parts in the country witnessed rainfall of more than 100 ml.

After taking stock of the weather forecasting, Minister Pun said that the weather forecasting system in the country has improved significantly and stressed that it should be made further credible in the future.

Saying that the government has invested huge resources and technology for weather forecasting, Minister Pun directed the officials to leave no stone unturned to save the people’s lives by disseminating timely information on weather.
